The first royal wedding of the United Kingdom was in 1053, Prince William I to Matilda of Flanders at the Cathedral Of Notre Damed 'Eu. There’s been centuries of crowning, marital unions and children literally born and fed with silver spoons as Princes and Princesses. The first black Queen of Great Britain and Ireland wife of King George III was Queen Sophia Charlotte. This royal union produced 15 children.
On May 19, 2018, Queen Elizabeth II attended the wedding of her grandson, Prince Harry (Henry Charles Albert David) and Black American beauty Rachel Meghan Markle (by royal standards a commoner). Royal weddings are of major interest to people all over the world, the majesty of real life fairy tales is the allure. Every little girl dreams of the splendor…the life of a Princess and in this case to grow up and marry a Prince. Meghan Markle relinquished her career as an actress for love and holy matrimony. Prince Harry is now His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Meghan is now making history as the first ever Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. Their titles, bestowed upon them by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth III. Congratulations to the Royal Couple may your love reign supreme and true, as did your predecessors!
My father always told and taught me to demand that a man opens, holds the door for me as a woman as a lady. It's something that I learned early on in life but as I grew up and began dating I forgot what my dad taught me. This is important because it's an act of a gentleman. If we are not being treated that way and if it's of no importance then what are we missing? Are we settling, have we gotten to a place of independence that we don't require that courtesy? For me I actually appreciate a man that opens my doors whether it's my husband, brother or friend. When I'm with my dad he always gives me a look when I reach for the door in front of him, so I'm on notice. There's nothing like a gentleman treating a woman like a lady. This was a daily practice for men and women in the 1950s, it looks like Ludacris knows how to treat his lady, seen opening the car door for his wife Eudoxie.
This cave girl's remains were found inside of the Theopetra Cave in 1993, in the central Greek region of Thessaly making her an ancient Thessalonian. Scientist used silicon to reconstruct her face and she's named Avgi, which is Greek for Dawn. Her bones are that of a 15 year old but her teeth indicated that she was 18 years old when she died and in poor health. They are still doing excavations in the cave and hopefully they will discover other remains to at least to reveal that she was not alone. Today some of us live hard knock lives but when I think about how her life must have been I look at my 15 year old granddaughter and I thank God for the life she lives. Avgi's facial expression and protruding jaw reflects pain and anger.
Peter Bentzon was born on the island of St. Thomas around 1783 during the slavery years, yet he was born free from slavery. His mother was mulatto and his father was white . At the young age of 16 Peter Bentzon took his place in freedom to become an apprentice to a Philadelphia Silversmith. He successfully completed his apprenticeship in 1806 and moved to Christiansted, St. Croix where he started his own business. There were other known Black Silversmiths but they were crafting for slave masters and more than likely not compensated for their work. One of Bentzon's many pieces of valuable collectables is the silver teapot that is exhibited in the collection of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Peter Bentzon's craft and labor was well known in 1817 though 1849. The Black American Silversmith had his own engraved stamp and trademarked his pieces "PBENTZON" or PB. His coin silver spoons sell today for $8,500.00.
Free African American men should follow the example of education and training, laboring a skill and craft to take pride in entrepreneurship and being valued, making Black History honorably!
Personally I am not a supporter of President Donald J. Trump or the appointments of inexperienced staff, that he is recruiting to represent and govern the United States of America. My opinion, likes and or dislikes matter to me, but it does not change the fact that he is indeed the president of the free world. On this day January 21, 2017 the amazing unity of people, and peaceful protest across America and beyond is a blessing and has made history. I pray to God to renew the mind, heart and soul of President Trump.
May God bless America.
In Jesus name amen.
There comes a time when the business of good entertainment is in season. We are in that season right here and now. The Writers are hot and they are hitting the keys writing about politics, drugs, love, sex, lies, money, murder and power are in the mix for Drama TV's seasonal hits. The Producers are smart and taking heed to the quality of creative work that lands on their desks.
I noticed that there is a buzz about Scandal vs. Being Mary Jane and Power vs. Empire, why I question? We can do without the crap. These are very different storylines and the plots are exempt from one another.
Whether it's ABC, Fox, BET or Starz, Drama TV is on fire and the bottom line is that when we turn the channel to watch Scandal, Empire, Being Mary Jane or Power we are being entertained by African American Stars who make us want more of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard) & Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), Mary Jane Paul/Pauletta Patterson (Gabrielle Union) and James "Ghost" St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and their great supporting actors/actresses. So don't miss the drama be a part of it all...it's the here and now that we look back on in the future.
The first sign of Cancer was in the 19th Century. It had a different look and different names to its cause and existence with no treatment.
A known treatment is radiation that was discovered by Madam Marie and Miseour Paul Curie by the end of the 19th Century. This treatment is mostly used today. An estimated 14.1 million deaths are due to cancer just calculated by census in 2012.
In the USA Susan G. Komen (a breast cancer survivor) and the founder of the non-profit foundation Susan G. Komen for the Cure stood in the foreground fight for the cure and awareness. She used the pink ribbon in the fall of 1991 and it has become a symbolic as the official symbol of hope in 1992 when the National Breast Cancer Awareness used it to raise awareness.
To date concerned people and companies all over the world stand in support with financial donations for the cure for cancer and respectfully wear purple ribbons for cure for cancer and pink ribbons for cure for breast cancer.
Cancer is a physical disease that kills and it is in the rise. In 2014 an estimated 232,670 new cases of cancer are expected. How can this be expected? The estimate for cancer victims in 2014 is 1,665,540 people. Why is that?
The total number of cancer survivors is growing in leaps and bounds and in part due to early detection and treatment. An estimated 2.8 million women are surviving cancer in the USA alone and that is to be glorified.
My family loss my grandmother Margaret Cobb to lung cancer and she never smoke a cigarette a day in her life. I will forever remember how the disease drained her of her life. My God-sister passed last year after a long battle with cancer as well.
Every year the Pink Cancer Awareness Fire Trucks tour the USA and I had the pleasure of signing a little love note to my grandmother, and two of my very close friends that are cancer survivors. I hope to catch the trucks and place a note of love and faith for my dear friend that is presently battling cancer.
To all of you cancer survivors God bless you and your families and to the brave women surviving breast cancer we celebrate your victory!
Joan Rivers could make you laugh to tears as a comedian and rip your personal fashion style to shreds on the red carpet with her barefaced opinion. Joan Rivers had an amazing career doing exactly what she wanted to do for over 50 years. Her loud raspy tone delighted us in so many ways from her stand up comedy, to talk show host on The Late Show with Joan Rivers and The Joan Rivers Show, her own jewelry and clothing collection for QVC and other shopping channels, her throne on The Fashion Police and her reality show with her daughter Joan & Mellissa: Joan Knows Best. Of the many catch lines or phrases from her trash-talking mouth my favorites are..."Can we talk?" and "Oh grow up!" Working hard and dressing to impress with the amazing kind of energy that Joan Rivers had at 81 years of age well, that's a full life lived.
Joan Rivers was true to her sense of humor through to her death, she made this request to her daughter... “I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene!” she wrote. “I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don’t want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don’t want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing ‘Mr. Lonely.’ I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyoncé's.”
Gotta love her. RIP Joan Rivers. Wishing peace and love to her family, friends and fans.
Robin Williams brought so much joy to us all. No one can ever dispute his raw talent and his unique sense of humor. I can remember my first encounter with him as Mork of the Mork and Mindy sitcom back in the day "NaNu NaNu" (for those of you that can relate). I never missed an episode. Robin Williams became one of the top actors amongst his peers, whether it was his hilarious antics , his amazing ability to alter the sound of his voice or the tear provoking performances; he earned a place in our hearts and his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. I love every thing about him as a comedian, an actor and a humanitarian.
May the all that suffer find peace of mind and spirit and live life
In God's awesome universe he places in it human-beings, animals, and vegetation to help nourish us so we can grow to become individuals that he will be well pleased with and to fill the void that was once empty. In his magnificent design he left a special place void so that he could fill it with you. No-one had the idea that he would place a woman of such magnitude, wisdom, intelligence and love that would fill the void of so many people. I read these words once "That To Whom Much Is Given, Much Is Required" God gave you much and exemplified the chareteristics of sharing, love and commitment to all who beckoned for your assistance and guidance and never once did you require anything from us but a tentative ear to listen to the words that you imparted to us. at first I was sadden when I heard of your passing, but I realized that I have your memories that will bring a smile to my face when all appears hopeless. In closing I just want you to know in spirit, that you will be missed but my void has been filled.
The genus of Michael Jackson the King of Pop is still alive 5 years after his death. Just dropping is "Xscape" the new album from the archives of Michael Jackson's many musical creations. Producer LA Reid who pulled the single "Love Never So Good" knew that this was the beginning of the Icon's rise to resurrection. Although the song was great as a producer Timbaland felt that it needed the collaboration from Justin Timberland to be the cherry on top. It is said that Michael's spirit was there every step, every beat of the way. The name of the album was taken from an expression that Michael used "exscape-ism". LA Reid, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake worked connecting to the epic sound, style and perfection that has and always will be Michael Jackson. The hologram performance on Billboard Music Awards was awesome!
Throughout God's word He says that He gives us...the power of gifts and talents. We have to ask God to reveal our gifts and talents...Years ago I did just that I asked God and He revealed to me that I am a Writer. Since then I have exercised that gift from God which I found to be an infinite passion. With God's gifts there's always trials, test and tribulations that appear like fire. Having faith and not giving up is the hardest part of walking through the fire as God intends us to. The sheer joy is knowing that the hand of God is always with me/you and for this I am walking in victory through the fire and I am grateful...never give up on what God gives you because it is yours!
I awakened one day and I am living, breathing, there's people around me that say "I'm your mother, Katherine" and "I'm your father Joseph, "I'm your brother and I'm your sister, we're your family you're a Jackson."
What is this strange thing that I hear, I feel, I want? It sounds so good to me everyone in my family knows this thing; I'm just a little boy that they call Michael. I'm listening to the sounds, I'm listening to a voice when I'm alone and I hear it all. It sounds so good to me ; it's so clear to me that I must sing and dance. Oh how I love it, I'm good at this it's a part of me but I'm just a boy.
Wow! Everybody's screaming, "The Jackson Five" while I'm screaming "I want to play, I want to have friends"...yet the stage is fantastic, I love it.
I can do more, I feel it...I can give and change the world to make it a better place. I'm Michael Jackson, now why don't you see me beyond my natural flaws? I'll change my appearance, now why do you mock and ridicule me. I write, sing and dance so that you will know my heart.
From a boy to a man who am ? I am Michael Joseph Jackson a human being that God made to be one of the greatest entertainers of all times. I know you in the USA, Europe, Africa, Asia and the world. I will always love and share my gift from God; I will always reach out to you with lyrics, my loving spirit and soul in song..."I'm bad you know it!"
Just missing Michael
Me, myself I love public affection. Holding hands or the small of her back, a tender or even a passionate kiss, a gentle touch of the face is so special to me. There's something special about a man that expresses his feelings when he doesn't care if the world is watching. It says to me "this is loving" and not just behind closed doors. I've often smiled to a blush when I see couples embrace in public. My husband and I experienced a person driving by and yelling "Get a room!" because we kissed passionately in the spirit of the moment. To find public affection offensive is to be offended by something endearing.
The NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) says 203,000 children are kidnapped each year by family members. Another 58,200 are abducted by non-family members. Anderson Cooper
Hospitals have stepped up to bat to keep our little angels safe from harm. Trained security guards and surveillance systems are in place. Wrist and ankle tags adorn their little wrist and ankles to eliminate abduction from their hospital rooms and bassinets. The tags are tamperproof and send off an alarm if the little darlings are moved outside of the safe zones. Delivery and child birth is a beautiful life altering experience and Mommy and Daddy can enjoy the experience with peace of my mind.
I love the current trend which gives a real man options in color. The man that wears pink is a man that knows exactly who he is. Pink has always been categorized as "pretty" therefor it has taken its place in a woman's world. Things have changed shirts, pants, suits and even shoes in many shades of pink and can be found holding its own in a man's closet. I personally bought my husband a pink shirt and tie by Calvin Klein years ago and he wears it well; looking very masculine and sharp. The pink brings life to his black suit. I say come on fellas don't stop there...make a statement in red, purple, yellow and more.
As many of your brothers and sisters mourn over your passing away, I would just personally like to say thank you, thank you and thank you again for leaving us with a legacy that will surpass the test of times. You have left us with a ruler
to be measured by as individuals; it was your courageousness, strength and
unwavering commitment that will forever be embedded in our hearts, minds and souls. We will always remember that smile of yours and the lesson being that even though you knew you were wrongfully imprisoned you still smiled in the face of those who brought in-justice upon you, when we would’ve been contemplating a way to seek revenge if it had been us in your shoes. Because of your trial we all were a part of it and during those long days and nights that you sat in that 5 by 9 cell your spirit allowed us to deal with our own situations. That only confirmed the words “That Brilliant Minds Come Out of a 5 by 9.With that being said all I want to say is Thank You for the guidance and words of wisdom that
you shared with us and to assure you that your spirit will never die. In the words of Maya Angelou “I TOO
SHALL RISE “…………………………….
There's power in love use your power today!
